ISLAMABAD (MNN); Pakistan, along with seven other Muslim-majority countries, has rejected any attempt to alter the historic and legal status of Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites.
In a joint statement, the foreign ministers strongly condemned repeated violations by Israeli authorities, particularly continued incursions by settlers and officials into Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif under police protection, along with the raising of the Israeli flag within the compound.
The statement described these actions as a clear violation of international law and an unacceptable provocation to Muslims worldwide, stressing that the entire Al-Aqsa compound remains exclusively a Muslim place of worship under the administration of the Jordanian Waqf authorities.
The ministers also denounced Israel’s expanding illegal settlements, including approval of more than 30 new ones, as well as rising settler violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. They reaffirmed that Israel holds no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories and rejected any attempts at annexation or displacement of Palestinians.
Calling on the international community to act decisively, the ministers urged efforts to halt violations and support a comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, with an independent Palestinian state along pre-1967 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital.
The statement follows recent incidents in which Israeli settlers entered the Al-Aqsa compound under heavy security, with reports of religious rituals and flag-raising inside the premises.
