Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) Islamabad has explored plans to launch a Green & Smart Campus Mobility Pilot Program aimed at introducing sustainable and technology-driven transportation within the university.
The proposal was discussed during a meeting between QAU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Nawaz Jaspal and Ms Xia Bing, Chief Executive Officer of PCKX Trading and Contracting (Pvt.) Ltd., who was accompanied by the company’s General Manager and Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
The meeting served as a follow-up discussion on the proposed initiative, which seeks to transform QAU into a model green and smart campus by offering students a safe, affordable and environmentally friendly transport system.
As part of the pilot phase, the company proposed deploying between 300 and 500 smart bikes across the university campus. The project will evaluate bike usage, booking systems, parking management and safety measures to determine the feasibility of expanding the programme on a larger scale.
Prof Dr Jaspal welcomed the proposal and reaffirmed the university’s support for sustainable and innovative initiatives.
He emphasized the University’s commitment to promoting sustainable and innovative solutions that enhance the campus experience.
The meeting was also attended by Prof Dr Tasawar Hayat, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Prof Dr Muhammad Ishtiaq Ali, Director of the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) and Chairperson of the Department of Microbiology, along with members of the ORIC team.
