BEIJING: China on Wednesday marked the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), highlighting the party’s role in the country’s development and reaffirming its commitment to advancing Chinese modernization and national rejuvenation.
Founded in 1921, the CPC traced its origins to the historic meeting on the Red Boat on Nanhu Lake. Chinese officials described the anniversary as a milestone reflecting more than a century of political leadership, economic transformation, and national development.
The CPC said it has remained committed to its founding mission of improving the well-being of the Chinese people and pursuing the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Under its leadership, China has achieved what it describes as a moderately prosperous society in all respects, eliminated absolute poverty, and grown into the world’s second-largest economy.
The anniversary comes as 2026 marks the opening year of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan and the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army’s Long March, both of which Chinese authorities say will serve as key milestones in advancing the country’s long-term development goals.
Chinese officials reiterated their commitment to promoting Chinese modernization, pursuing high-quality development, and strengthening international cooperation through the vision of building a “community with a shared future for humanity.”
Celebrations and commemorative activities were held across China to mark the occasion, with messages emphasizing national unity, continued reform, and the country’s future development under CPC leadership.
