BEIJING (Xinhua/MNN); Chinese President Xi Jinping and Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Friday agreed to elevate bilateral relations by announcing the establishment of a China-Bangladesh community with a shared future in the new era during Rahman’s official visit to China.
Welcoming the Bangladeshi premier in Beijing, President Xi said China attaches great importance to its friendship with Bangladesh and remains committed to strengthening long-term cooperation based on mutual trust, respect and good-neighbourly relations.
Xi said China would remain a reliable friend, neighbour and development partner of Bangladesh regardless of changes in the international landscape. He reaffirmed Beijing’s support for Bangladesh’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and its efforts to safeguard national interests without external interference.
Highlighting the 105th anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC), President Xi said China’s modernization was achieved through self-reliance, independent development and national unity. He expressed China’s readiness to share its development experience with Bangladesh.
The Chinese president said Beijing would work closely with Dhaka to expand high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), while exploring new opportunities in green and low-carbon development, the digital economy, information technology and artificial intelligence.
He also proposed deeper cooperation in healthcare, education, culture and people-to-people exchanges, besides advancing the China-Myanmar-Bangladesh Economic Corridor to improve regional connectivity and economic integration.
On global affairs, Xi said China was prepared to strengthen coordination with Bangladesh through multilateral platforms, including the United Nations, to promote a fair and balanced international order, inclusive economic globalization and safeguard the common interests of developing countries and the Global South.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman congratulated China on the 105th anniversary of the Communist Party of China and described Beijing as one of Bangladesh’s most trusted and valued partners.
He praised China’s modernization model, saying it offered valuable lessons for Bangladesh’s own development journey. Rahman said Dhaka hoped to expand cooperation with China in trade, investment, infrastructure, connectivity, agriculture, science and technology, green energy, education and healthcare to accelerate national modernization.
Reaffirming Bangladesh’s longstanding commitment to the One-China policy, Rahman stated that Taiwan is an inseparable part of China’s territory and reiterated his government’s opposition to any form of “Taiwan independence.” He also voiced support for United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758.
The Bangladeshi prime minister further endorsed President Xi’s vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity and China’s global development initiatives, saying they contribute to international peace, sustainable development and global justice.
Rahman said Bangladesh looks forward to strengthening strategic coordination with China on regional and international issues while jointly supporting the UN-centred international order and preserving the outcomes of the Second World War.
