Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir arrived in Turkiye on Monday for a two-day official visit, state media reported.
According to security sources cited by state-run Radio Pakistan, CDF Munir received a “warm welcome” upon his arrival in Turkiye.
During his visit, the CDF is scheduled to hold “important” meetings with Turkey’s military and political leadership, the sources said.
State-run Pakistan Television (PTV) and the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) also confirmed Munir’s arrival and reported that he is expected to meet senior Turkish military and political officials during the visit.
The visit comes after Turkish Land Forces Commander General Metin Tokel met Field Marshal Asim Munir during his visit to Pakistan last month. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two officials discussed regional security developments and opportunities to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation.
During his Pakistan visit, General Tokel also held meetings with the country’s naval and air chiefs.
Earlier this month, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Turkiye, where discussions focused on enhancing economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
