Web Desk; The United States and India have signed a landmark 10-year “Framework for the US-India Major Defence Partnership,” aimed at strengthening bilateral defense and security cooperation.
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced the agreement on X, stating: “I just met with @rajnathsingh to sign a 10-year U.S.-India Defense Framework. This advances our defense partnership, a cornerstone for regional stability and deterrence. We’re enhancing our coordination, information sharing, and technology cooperation. Our defense ties have never been stronger.”
Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, in his post on X, called the meeting with Hegseth “fruitful” and said the new framework would “usher in a new era” in the already robust defense ties between both nations.
He added that the agreement would guide the full spectrum of defense relations between India and the United States and reflects their growing strategic alignment. Singh emphasized that defense cooperation will remain a key pillar of bilateral relations and is vital for ensuring a “free, open, and rules-based Indo-Pacific region.”
Both leaders met in Kuala Lumpur on the sidelines of the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM-Plus).
