RAWALPINDI (MNN); Six security personnel, including two officers and a Customs Department official, were martyred during coordinated terrorist attacks in Balochistan, while security forces killed 21 terrorists in separate operations, the military’s media wing said on Tuesday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the incidents took place during the night of August 31 and September 1 in Nokcha, Chagai District, and Ziarat Cross in Pishin District.
ISPR said terrorists belonging to what the state describes as Fitna al-Khawarij launched a coordinated attack in an attempt to breach the Customs House.
Security forces responded promptly and effectively, killing 10 terrorists after an intense exchange of fire. Security forces also pursued the fleeing attackers, inflicting further casualties.
During the operation, six personnel, including two officers and a government official from the Customs Department, embraced martyrdom while performing their duties.
The ISPR described the attack on the Customs House as a manifestation of a “terror-crime nexus”, aimed at preventing Customs officials from carrying out their lawful duties and facilitating criminal activities in the area.
Sanitisation operations were continuing in the surrounding areas to eliminate any remaining militants and ensure the security of local residents and vital national highways, the statement said.
11 Terrorists Killed on Quetta-Taftan Highway
In another incident on August 31, militants belonging to what Pakistan describes as Fitna al-Hindustan attempted to disrupt traffic on the N-40 Quetta-Taftan Highway by setting up an illegal checkpoint to extort commuters.
Security forces responded immediately and, following an intense exchange of fire, killed 11 terrorists on the spot, according to ISPR.
A large quantity of weapons, ammunition and explosives was also recovered from the militants.
The military said the operations were part of the ongoing counterterrorism campaign under Azm-i-Istehkam, aimed at eliminating terrorism and ensuring lasting peace and stability.
Operations Continue Across Balochistan
The latest incidents come amid intensified counterterrorism operations across Balochistan.
On Monday, security forces killed 12 terrorists after militants attacked a convoy linked to the Reko Diq copper and gold project in Chagai.
In another intelligence-based operation in Washuk district, two terrorists were also reported killed.
The ISPR said security forces and law enforcement agencies remain committed to continuing operations with full determination to eliminate terrorism and restore lasting peace and security across the country.
