ISLAMABAD: An in-camera briefing on the regional situation was held at the Prime Minister’s House on Wednesday, led by Shehbaz Sharif.
The session, which lasted over two hours, focused on the ongoing ‘Operation Ghazab lil-Haq’ against terrorist hideouts, the Pakistan-Afghanistan situation, and the escalating hostilities in Iran, the Middle East, and the Gulf region.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, participants were briefed on Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts and freely expressed their views.
Leaders emphasised the need for national unity and consensus in the prevailing circumstances and reiterated their commitment to eradicating terrorism from the country. They also appreciated the government’s diplomatic outreach for peace and offered recommendations for future action. Among the prominent attendees were PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
The PTI did not attend the meeting, maintaining its position that it would participate only if a meeting with its founder, Imran Khan, was arranged.
