ISLAMABAD (MNN); Sun Haiyan, Vice Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister at the Prime Minister House on Thursday.
The Prime Minister was assisted by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, the Prime Minister’s Special Representative on China Ambassador Zafar Uddin Mahmood, and Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch.
During the warm and cordial meeting, the Prime Minister welcomed the Chinese dignitary and her delegation, noting that the visit was taking place at a significant time as Pakistan and China are marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. He said the year had begun with the successful visit of Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to Beijing, followed by the Interior Minister’s visit to Shanghai, while the Speaker of the National Assembly was also expected to visit China shortly.
The Prime Minister conveyed his warm greetings to President Xi Jinping and the Chinese leadership. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s iron-clad, all-weather strategic cooperative partnership with China and emphasized that it would remain steadfast under all circumstances. He also reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to the One China Policy.
Highlighting economic cooperation, the Prime Minister praised China’s continued support to Pakistan, particularly under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and stressed the importance of ensuring timely implementation of the next phase of CPEC. He also extended a cordial invitation to President Xi Jinping to pay an official visit to Pakistan this year, describing it as a milestone year for bilateral relations.
Vice Minister Sun Haiyan thanked the Prime Minister for the warm hospitality and said China remained committed to further strengthening its long-standing and time-tested relations with Pakistan in all fields. She congratulated the Prime Minister on achieving economic and political stability and said the Chinese people took pride in Pakistan’s diplomatic achievements.
She informed the Prime Minister that the Communist Party of China enjoys strong relations with a wide range of political parties in Pakistan and appreciated the Prime Minister’s leadership role in fostering political harmony for effective governance.
The Vice Minister underlined the importance of party-to-party engagement and reaffirmed the Communist Party of China’s resolve to deepen cooperation with Pakistan’s political parties.
