RAWALPINDI (MNN); Indonesia has conveyed its intention to further strengthen and expand defence relations with Pakistan, the military’s media wing said on Monday.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Indonesian Defence Minister Lieutenant General (retd) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin met Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
The meeting covered issues of mutual interest, regional and global security developments, and explored ways to enhance bilateral defence cooperation. Both sides emphasised the need to strengthen institutional ties, expand training collaboration, and promote defence industrial cooperation between Pakistan and Indonesia.
The Indonesian defence minister praised the professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. He also expressed Indonesia’s keen interest in broadening defence ties with Pakistan across various sectors.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to building a strong, long-term defence partnership with Indonesia, rooted in shared values, mutual respect, and aligned strategic interests.
