JHIMPIR: As the new year begins, Danish Ambassador to Pakistan, Maja Derrous Mortensen, visited Jhimpir in Sindh located at the heart of Pakistanās wind corridor to witness the impact of Danish investments in renewable energy.
During her visit to the JCM Power wind project, the Ambassador observed how Danish support through Impact Fund Denmark is helping Pakistan harness its vast wind resources. The project comprises 58 wind turbines with a total generation capacity of 100 megawatts, contributing to a cleaner energy mix and underscoring strong DenmarkāPakistan cooperation in the renewable energy sector. While solar energy often receives greater attention, the Jhimpir wind corridor alone holds an estimated potential of 11 to 50 gigawatts of clean wind power.
Beyond energy generation, the Ambassador also noted the projectās positive social impact. JCM Power has refurbished and reopened a primary school, providing fully funded education to over 40 students, along with improved access to healthcare and electricity for nearby communities.
Expressing inspiration at the enthusiasm of the students, Ambassador Mortensen remarked that green energy investments have the potential to power not only turbines, but also the futures of local communities.
