BEIJING, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) — China urged the United States to immediately stop its arms sales to Taiwan following Washington’s approval of a large package of advanced weapons for the region.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated on Thursday that the U.S. decision seriously violates the one-China principle and the three China-U.S. joint communiqués.
Guo emphasized that the move undermines China’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity, while disrupting peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. He also warned that it sends a dangerous signal to separatist forces advocating for Taiwan independence.
