France and Pakistan have taken a significant step in agricultural cooperation with the signing of a letter of intent and a work plan between the French authorities and the Ministry of National Food Security and Research of Pakistan.
The agreement sets phytosanitary requirements for the export of seed potatoes from France to Pakistan.The initiative aims to support crop production in Pakistan by providing access to certified planting material while maintaining strict plant health standards. Under the work plan, exports to Pakistan will adhere to agreed inspection, testing, and certification procedures.
France reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Pakistan’s efforts to enhance agricultural output, food security, and sustainable development. Both countries highlighted the broad potential for cooperation in areas such as trade, technical assistance, investment, training, and education.
In line with this collaboration, France extended an invitation to Pakistani officials and companies to attend the Paris International Agricultural Show from February 21 to March 1, 2026, one of the world’s premier events for the agricultural sector.
