Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, met with Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Belqasim Haftar, to discuss matters of mutual interest and regional security, the military said on Thursday.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that discussions focused on enhancing bilateral defence relations and military-to-military cooperation.
Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, was also present during the meeting.On arrival in Libya, Field Marshal Munir was received with a guard of honour by a contingent of the Libyan Armed Forces.
Both sides emphasized the importance of collaboration in training, capacity building, and counter-terrorism initiatives.Field Marshal Munir reaffirmed Pakistanâs commitment to deepening defence ties with Libya based on shared interests, while Field Marshal Haftar praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and expressed his interest in further expanding defence cooperation between the two countries.
