Web Desk (MNN); Denmark’s newly appointed Ambassador to Pakistan, Maja Derrous Mortensen, has completed her first month in the country, and it has been nothing short of eventful. From the moment she arrived, the Ambassador began her diplomatic engagement at full pace.
She officially presented her credentials to Pakistan’s President, marking the formal start of her tenure. In the following weeks, she met with the Prime Minister as well as the ministers of Finance, Maritime Affairs, and Commerce, reaffirming Denmark’s commitment to clean energy initiatives, sustainable development, and enhanced bilateral trade.
Ambassador Mortensen also hosted her debut event at the Danish Residence titled “An Evening of Music & Friendship,” bringing together Danish partners and Pakistani guests for a night of cultural harmony. The gathering featured Danish musicians, young artists from Hunza, and a qawwali ensemble from Lahore, showcasing a vibrant exchange of talent.
During the month, she made her first television appearance, attended Lok Mela, recorded her social media introduction video, and even joined her embassy team for a friendly cricket match.
Her first official travel within Pakistan took her to Lahore and Narowal, where she, along with the Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, inaugurated a Denmark-funded student incubation centre at a local university.
With one month completed, the Ambassador has firmly settled into her role, determined to expand Denmark–Pakistan cooperation further, especially in the fields of climate action and green partnership.
