DOHA (MNN); Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday arrived in Doha on a one-day visit to offer condolences on behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan over the demise of Qatar’s former Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, and other senior officials.
During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif led the Pakistani delegation in a meeting with the Amir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, where they conveyed their heartfelt condolences over the passing of the former Emir.
The Prime Minister paid rich tribute to the late Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, describing him as a visionary leader whose wisdom and statesmanship played a pivotal role in Qatar’s remarkable development and prosperity. He also acknowledged the late leader’s significant contributions toward promoting peace, stability and progress across the region.
Shehbaz Sharif fondly recalled the late former Emir’s longstanding affection and goodwill for Pakistan, noting that his memorable visits to Pakistan had further strengthened the close and brotherly ties between the two countries.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the leadership and people of Qatar during this period of national mourning. He prayed that Almighty Allah grants the departed leader the highest place in Jannah and blesses the Qatari Royal Family and the people of Qatar with patience and strength to bear this irreparable loss.
Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and the accompanying Pakistani delegation for personally travelling to Doha to express their condolences.
The Amir said the gesture reflected the deep-rooted brotherly relations and enduring friendship shared by Pakistan and Qatar, further strengthening the longstanding bonds between the two nations and their peoples.
