TEHRAN (MNN); Iranian authorities have begun preparations for a large state funeral for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei following a delay caused by Iran’s war with the United States and Israel, according to official media reports.
State television reported that although the date for the funeral has not yet been finalized, a special headquarters has been established to oversee arrangements for the ceremony.
The report, citing Mohsen Mahmoudi, head of Tehran’s Coordination Council for Islamic Propaganda, said multiple government agencies are coordinating preparations to ensure the funeral can be held on a grand scale once officially announced.
Iran had earlier organised a tribute event in April in honour of Khamenei. However, the state funeral originally planned at the time was postponed because of the ongoing conflict in the region.
Officials said planning is now underway to create the necessary arrangements for the ceremony, with expectations of large public participation once the date is confirmed.
