BEIJING: President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari continued his China visit in Hunan Province with high-level meetings, industrial visits, and cooperation agreements as China and Pakistan mark 75 years of diplomatic relations this year.
A symbolic moment of the visit came when President Zardari traveled to Shaoshan, where he laid a floral wreath at the bronze statue of Mao Zedong, paying tribute to the historical legacy of New Chinaâs founding figures and reaffirming diplomatic goodwill between the two countries.
Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said Zardariâs trip, running from April 25 to May 1, also includes visits to Hainan Province. He noted that this year marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Pakistan, adding that bilateral relations continue to maintain strong momentum. Lin said China is ready to work with Pakistan to deepen friendly exchanges and cooperation at all levels and between different localities to build an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future.
During his visit to Changsha, Zardari toured Sany Heavy Industry and Hunan Tea Group, where discussions focused on industrial collaboration, agricultural technology, tea exports, and value addition. He also witnessed the signing of three MoUs related to water desalination in Karachi, agricultural technology, and tea sector cooperation, further advancing collaboration under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework.
