ISLAMABAD (MNN); Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula (Note: name adapted if needed based on context—original text mentions Dr. Umar Hussein Oba), formally presented his credentials to Asif Ali Zardari during an official ceremony held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday.
Following the ceremony, the President held a meeting with the ambassador, during which both sides reviewed all aspects of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Ethiopia. The discussion emphasized the importance of further strengthening cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral levels.
The two sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening ties and explored opportunities to enhance collaboration in key sectors such as climate change, aviation, agriculture, and trade. Both leaders underscored the potential for expanding economic and diplomatic engagement to mutual benefit.
On the occasion, the ambassador conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from Taye Atske Selassie and Abiy Ahmed to the President and people of Pakistan.
The envoy also appreciated Pakistan’s “Look Africa” and “Engage Africa” policies, highlighting their role in strengthening ties with East African countries, including Ethiopia.
President Zardari reciprocated the goodwill, extending his best wishes to the Ethiopian leadership and reiterating Pakistan’s desire to further expand diplomatic and economic relations with Ethiopia.
The ambassador expressed his commitment to working closely with the Government of Pakistan during his tenure in Islamabad to foster a strong and mutually beneficial partnership.
