ISLAMABAD: High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, H.E. Ambassador Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, received a courtesy call from H.E. Dr. Irfan Neziroğlu, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye, at the High Commission of Malaysia in Islamabad on Tuesday.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both ambassadors to exchange views on Malaysia–Türkiye bilateral relations, with a particular focus on expanding economic cooperation and identifying new avenues for enhanced engagement. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening trade and investment ties in the context of evolving regional and global economic conditions.
Discussions also covered prospects for trilateral cooperation among Malaysia, Türkiye and Pakistan, especially in the fields of capacity building and development assistance. In this regard, the ambassadors explored potential collaboration between the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), including the sharing of expertise and best practices for development initiatives in Pakistan.
The two diplomats further discussed efforts to revive the trilateral television channel initiative involving Malaysia, Türkiye and Pakistan, aimed at promoting balanced narratives and countering Islamophobia through media cooperation and strategic communication.
Regional security developments were also reviewed, with both sides stressing the importance of stability, dialogue and cooperation in addressing shared challenges.
The courtesy call underscored the warm and friendly relations between Malaysia and Türkiye and reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral ties while exploring practical and mutually beneficial cooperation with Pakistan.
