BEIJING (MNN); Pakistan and China on Sunday reaffirmed that their longstanding friendship and strategic partnership are essential for regional peace, stability, and shared prosperity, as Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi co-chaired the 7th round of the Pakistan–China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue in Beijing.
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in Beijing on Saturday at the invitation of Wang Yi, with the primary objective of leading the strategic dialogue, which is considered the highest-level consultative mechanism between the two countries. The dialogue provides a structured forum to review the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation, as well as regional and global developments of mutual interest.
According to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Office on social media platform X, both leaders underscored the importance of the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership and agreed that the Pakistan–China friendship plays a crucial role in ensuring peace, stability, and prosperity in the region. They also agreed to further enhance coordination at bilateral and multilateral forums.
During the dialogue, the two sides reviewed overall Pakistan–China relations and exchanged views on key regional and international issues. Discussions covered progress and future prospects of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), trade and economic cooperation, multilateral engagement, and people-to-people exchanges. Both sides also agreed to jointly celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
The previous, sixth round of the strategic dialogue was held in Islamabad in August, during which Wang Yi met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari. At that time, China reiterated its commitment to working closely with Pakistan to promote regional peace, development, and stability.
In addition to the strategic dialogue, Ishaq Dar, who also serves as Pakistan’s deputy prime minister, held several high-level meetings with senior Chinese leaders. He met Chinese Executive Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, with both sides reaffirming their shared resolve to further deepen the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership. The Chinese vice premier appreciated Pakistan’s consistent support for China on issues of core national interest.
Both leaders highlighted the historical significance of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and agreed to use this milestone to shape a forward-looking vision for expanded cooperation, particularly under CPEC. Vice Premier Ding also conveyed New Year greetings to Pakistan’s leadership and people.
In another meeting, Dar met Liu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China. Dar congratulated him on the successful convening of the 4th Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. The two sides expressed satisfaction over the steady and positive trajectory of bilateral relations, reviewed party-to-party exchanges, discussed regional developments, and assessed progress on CPEC projects. They agreed to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations in a meaningful and befitting manner.
The Foreign Office said Dar will also participate in events marking the beginning of the 75th year of Pakistan–China diplomatic ties, with both countries planning a series of initiatives and commemorative activities throughout 2026. The visit reflects the shared determination of Islamabad and Beijing to further broaden and deepen their cooperative partnership, while reaffirming their mutual commitment to regional peace, stability, and sustainable development.
