ISLAMABAD (MNN); US President Donald Trump has said there is “no timeframe” for ending the conflict with Iran, dismissing reports of any deadline or urgency for ceasefire talks. In an interview with Fox News, he rejected claims of a short extension window for the ceasefire, calling them “false,” and emphasized that his administration is focused on securing a “good deal for the American people,” not political timelines.
Trump also described Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi as a “smart man” and expressed hope for renewed negotiations. Meanwhile, the White House confirmed that while military operations have paused under a ceasefire, economic pressure on Iran continues through a strict blockade, reportedly costing Tehran hundreds of millions of dollars daily.
US Central Command stated that 29 vessels have been turned back as part of the blockade, rejecting media claims that some ships bypassed restrictions. The US military said it continues to enforce the blockade across the region.
The White House further clarified that Iran’s seizure of two non-US vessels does not violate the ceasefire. Officials also said no fixed deadline has been set for Iran to submit a peace proposal, adding that the timeline will be determined by the president.
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt noted that the US may act independently if European allies do not join the blockade, while reiterating that Iran must not acquire nuclear weapons and must hand over enriched uranium stockpiles.
Separately, Iran’s judiciary rejected Trump’s claim that Tehran halted executions of eight women, calling the statement “false news.”
