ISLAMABAD: Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, on Monday expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Pakistan for sending a high-level delegation to attend the funeral ceremonies of Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
In a statement, Ambassador Moghadam said, “On my own behalf, and on behalf of the Government and People of the Islamic Republic of Iran, I extend my deepest appreciation to the Government and People of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for the participation of their high-ranking delegation in the ceremony held to pay homage to the Martyred Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Shahid Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.”
He extended special thanks to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff Syed Asim Munir, Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gillani, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, along with other senior officials, religious scholars, political leaders and cultural personalities for attending the ceremony and expressing solidarity with Iran.
The ambassador said he was “profoundly honored” to announce that Pakistan participated “at the Highest possible level”, making the Pakistani delegation “both the highest and the numerous one at this event.”
He said the presence of such a distinguished delegation reflected “the enduring friendship, mutual respect, and fraternal bonds between our two brotherly nations.”
Ambassador Moghadam added that Pakistan’s participation demonstrated the longstanding relationship between the two countries.
“This meaningful and historical gesture reflects the depth of the historic ties and shared values that have united Iran and Pakistan through the trials and triumphs of history,” he said.
He further noted that Iran and Pakistan had consistently stood by each other “in a spirit of solidarity, brotherhood, and mutual support.”
Concluding his statement, the ambassador prayed for the continued strength of bilateral ties, saying, “I pray to Allah Almighty to preserve this enduring friendship and brotherhood, to bless both our nations with lasting peace, prosperity, and dignity, and to further strengthen the bonds between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for generations to come.”
