ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has deployed fighter jets and military personnel to Saudi Arabia under a mutual defence pact signed in September 2025, according to the Saudi defence ministry. The aircraft, including fighter jets and support units, arrived at King Abdulaziz Air Base in Riyadh. The deployment aims to strengthen joint defence cooperation and support regional and international security.
The agreement, signed by Shehbaz Sharif and Mohammed bin Salman, commits both countries to treat any aggression against one as an attack on both, deepening their longstanding security partnership. Pakistan has historically provided military training and advisory support to the kingdom, while Saudi Arabia has extended financial assistance to Pakistan during economic challenges.
Saudi Finance Minister Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan recently visited Pakistan to signal continued economic support. In 2018, Saudi Arabia announced a $6 billion package for Pakistan, including a $3 billion central bank deposit and $3 billion in deferred oil payments.
