Web Desk (MNN); Social media platform X, formerly Twitter, experienced a widespread global outage on Friday, marking the second such disruption within a week, as users around the world reported problems accessing the service.
According to a report by The Independent, both the website and mobile application failed to load for many users globally, with several encountering blank screens while trying to access the platform.
The report noted that some users were shown Cloudflare error pages. However, it clarified that the issue originated from X itself and was not linked to the recent Cloudflare technical problems that had previously taken the platform offline.
MNN staff also encountered Cloudflare error pages while attempting to open the website, whereas the mobile app failed to load and only displayed posts from several hours earlier.
Outage-tracking website Downdetector recorded a sharp surge in complaints at around 8:24pm Pakistan time, indicating widespread disruption.
Earlier in the week on Tuesday, thousands of users worldwide had also reported difficulties accessing X. That outage began around 9am Eastern time (7:38pm PKT) and peaked with more than 28,300 reports in the United States before subsiding to nearly 700, according to Downdetector data.
In the United Kingdom, reported issues dropped to around 130 after reaching a high of over 8,000, while in Canada, complaints declined after earlier peaking above 3,200.
In Pakistan, user reports reached a high of 93 at around 7:38pm, before dropping to just four by 8:23pm, suggesting a gradual restoration of services.
