ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to meet Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and participate in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum today, marking the third phase of his three-country visit, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
During the forum in Antalya, the prime minister will join a high-level leaders’ panel titled “Mapping Tomorrow, Managing Uncertainties,” where he is expected to outline Pakistan’s viewpoint on global challenges. He will also attend the opening ceremony and hold meetings with other world leaders attending the event.
Shehbaz arrived in Türkiye after concluding a brief stop in Qatar, where he discussed regional developments with the Qatari leadership. His visit to Türkiye includes talks with President Erdoğan, particularly to brief him on ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions in the Middle East. The trip began in Saudi Arabia, where Shehbaz met Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah, before traveling to Doha for discussions centered on US-Iran negotiations, in which Pakistan has been playing a mediating role.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Foreign Office stated that the visits to Saudi Arabia and Qatar were primarily bilateral, focusing on strengthening cooperation as well as addressing regional peace and security concerns.
Amid escalating tensions, particularly involving Iran and Gulf countries, Pakistan has stepped up diplomatic efforts to facilitate dialogue between the United States and Iran. These efforts have contributed to a temporary ceasefire and the initiation of initial peace talks held in Islamabad.
