ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met US Charge d’Affaires Natalie Baker to discuss ongoing diplomatic efforts for a second round of talks between Washington and Tehran. According to the interior ministry, both sides exchanged views on regional developments and underscored the importance of continued diplomatic engagement for regional stability.
Naqvi stressed that diplomacy remains the only path toward a peaceful resolution. He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir are making full efforts at every level to resolve the conflict. He termed US President Donald Trump’s extension of the ceasefire a welcome development, saying it has helped reduce tensions.“It is hoped that both parties will give a chance to a diplomatic and peaceful solution,” Naqvi said. The US envoy appreciated Pakistan’s constructive and responsible role in promoting peace and supporting conflict resolution efforts in the region.
The meeting comes amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to facilitate dialogue between the United States and Iran, with Pakistan playing a mediating role. A second round of talks is expected soon in Islamabad.
