ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli military actions against Lebanon, describing them as a serious threat to regional peace and stability.
In an official statement issued on Thursday, Pakistan’s Foreign Office denounced the attacks “in the strongest terms,” highlighting the loss of innocent lives and the extensive damage to civilian infrastructure. The statement emphasized that Israel’s actions violate international law and fundamental humanitarian principles, while also undermining global efforts to restore peace in the region.
Pakistan urged the international community to take immediate and decisive action to halt the aggression. It also reaffirmed its full solidarity with the Lebanese government and people, expressing support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and long-term stability. The condemnation comes amid escalating violence, as Lebanon observed a national day of mourning following a wave of Israeli airstrikes that killed more than 250 people. Government offices were closed, and flags were lowered to honor the victims.
The situation further intensified after Hezbollah reportedly launched rockets toward Israel, calling it a response to what it described as violations of a recently announced US-Iran ceasefire. However, uncertainty remains over whether Lebanon was included in that truce, with Israel maintaining that it was not.
The latest escalation marks one of the most intense assaults on Lebanon since the beginning of the broader regional conflict, with Israeli forces reportedly targeting over 100 places across Beirut, the Bekaa Valley, and southern Lebanon. According to Lebanese civil defence authorities, the strikes resulted in at least 254 deaths and over 800 injuries.
The developments raise growing concerns about the widening scope of conflict in the Middle East and the fragility of ongoing diplomatic efforts.
