Peshawar: A memorable and historic ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of Pakistan–China diplomatic relations was organized by China Window at Frontier College for Women, Peshawar. The event reflected the deep-rooted and time-tested friendship between Pakistan and China, often described as “higher than the mountains and deeper than the oceans.” The Principal of the college, Professor Dr. Shaheen Umar, graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

Distinguished speakers from various walks of life presented papers and shared their views on Pakistan–China friendship, including educationist Professor Dr. Gulzar Jalal, senior journalist Tahir Farooq, and Director of China Window Naz Parveen.

Students of the college captivated the audience with impressive performances, presenting songs and tableaus highlighting the enduring bond between the two nations. A cake was also cut to commemorate the 75 years of diplomatic relations.

Speaking on the occasion, Professor Dr. Shaheen Umar said the celebration was especially meaningful as the college itself is also completing 75 years of establishment, making it a double celebration for more than 6,000 students and faculty members. She emphasized that Pakistan–China friendship is not merely diplomatic but a living example of brotherhood, mutual trust, respect, and cooperation. Despite global changes and challenges, the bond has grown stronger with time. She highlighted the transformative role of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), calling it the flagship project of bilateral cooperation.

Under CPEC, energy projects have significantly reduced Pakistan’s electricity crisis, motorways and highways have connected the country from north to south, and the development of Gwadar Port has opened new avenues for regional and global trade. Industrial zones are creating employment opportunities, increasing exports, and promoting industrial growth. She termed CPEC a “game changer” not only for Pakistan but for the entire region, aligned with China’s vision of shared development and prosperity.

Senior journalist Tahir Farooq stated that while the religions and cultures of the two nations differ, their hearts beat together. He noted that songs celebrating Pakistan are popular in China, just as songs about China resonate with the Pakistani public. He added that strengthening this friendship is essential as both countries face common challenges, including negative propaganda and fake news, requiring closer cooperation and mutual understanding.

Professor Dr. Gulzar Jalal emphasized that Pakistan–China friendship plays a vital role in safeguarding Pakistan’s geographical and strategic interests. He stressed the need to benefit from China’s experiences in education, technology, and economic development. Director of China Window Naz Parveen praised the leadership of Xi Jinping, describing it as visionary and historic. She said China Window in Peshawar is actively serving as a cultural bridge in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, promoting cultural exchange and strengthening people-to-people contacts between the two brotherly nations.

At the end of the ceremony, shields were distributed among the speakers, reaffirming the collective commitment to further deepen the everlasting friendship between Pakistan and China.
