In a significant move to bolster bilateral parliamentary cooperation, Russia will send a high-level delegation to Islamabad next week to participate in the upcoming Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC), scheduled for November 11–12.
The delegation will be co-led by Senator Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Speaker of the Russian Federation Council (upper house of parliament), and Mr. Aleksandr Babakov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma (lower house). Both leaders are seasoned politicians and are expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening parliamentary dialogue between Russia and Pakistan.
Also joining the delegation is Vladimir Chizhov, Chair of the Russia-Pakistan Friendship Group of the Federation Council. Mr. Chizhov previously visited Pakistan in February 2024 as part of an international mission observing the country’s general elections.
During their stay in Islamabad, the Russian parliamentarians are expected to hold meetings with senior members of the National Assembly and Senate of Pakistan on the sidelines of the conference. Discussions will focus on enhancing bilateral cooperation, expanding inter-parliamentary exchanges, and promoting mutual understanding on regional and global issues.
Observers note that this visit reflects the growing importance Moscow attaches to its parliamentary diplomacy with Islamabad, complementing broader efforts to deepen political, economic, and strategic ties between the two nations.
