KARACHI: In a key move to strengthen Pakistan-Africa relations, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday praised Ethiopian Airlines as a vital enabler of Pakistan’s Look Africa and Engage Africa policies.
The remarks came during a meeting with H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Ethiopia’s Ambassador and Special Envoy to Pakistan. Both sides discussed expanding bilateral cooperation in trade, aviation, climate action, and development sectors such as agriculture, education, and health.
Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker applauded the Chief Minister’s recent initiative to host a high-level Ethiopian delegation for a Green Dialogue at the Chief Minister’s House in Sindh, noting that the event significantly contributed to shaping joint efforts against climate change.
He also updated the Chief Minister on Ethiopia’s preparations to host Pakistan’s Single Country Exhibition in Addis Ababa this October, highlighting its importance in fostering economic engagement.
The Ambassador further commended the growing air connectivity between Pakistan and Africa made possible by Ethiopian Airlines. He emphasized the airline’s crucial role in advancing Pakistan’s Look Africa and Engage Africa policies.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah echoed this sentiment, describing Ethiopian Airlines as a transformative force for Pakistan-Africa relations and an essential pillar of the country’s Africa-focused outreach strategies. He also acknowledged the Ambassador’s active efforts in promoting strong ties between Ethiopia and Pakistan and reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation to new heights.
Mr. Ibrahim Khalid Tawab, Honorary Consul of Ethiopia in Karachi, was also present during the meeting.
