ISLAMABAD; The British Council has announced the opening of applications for the 12th edition of its prestigious Study UK Alumni Awards, inviting UK-educated alumni from across the world, including Pakistan, to apply before the deadline of 16 October 2025.
The awards celebrate the achievements of international UK alumni who have made exceptional contributions to their professions, communities, and countries by applying the skills, values, and knowledge gained during their studies in the United Kingdom.
The Study UK Alumni Awards are presented in four categories: Science and Sustainability; Culture, Creativity and Sport; Social Action; and Business and Innovation. Applicants compete at both national and global levels. Finalists for the Pakistan awards will be announced in January 2026, with winners recognised at a national ceremony scheduled for February 2026. The four global award winners will be selected in August 2026 from among 28 global finalists, with their success stories highlighted in an international digital campaign.
The global winners will also benefit from enhanced professional visibility, opportunities to expand their business and professional networks, and an exclusive networking visit to the UK.
Highlighting the importance of the initiative, Maarya Rehman, Deputy Director of the British Council Pakistan, said the awards serve as a powerful reflection of the impact of UK education. She stated, “The Study UK Alumni Awards are not only a celebration of individual achievements, but a testament to the transformative power of a UK education. They reflect how knowledge, values, and skills gained in the UK transcend borders, enabling alumni to become changemakers who reimagine industries, empower communities, and inspire global progress.”
Last year, the 11th edition of the awards received over 1,300 applications from UK alumni representing nearly 100 countries. The Pakistan national ceremony was held in Karachi in February 2025, celebrating winners from diverse sectors. Building on that success, the British Council is now encouraging alumni to share their stories for the 2026 awards.
The Study UK campaign, led by the British Council in partnership with the UK government’s GREAT Britain & Northern Ireland Campaign, promotes the UK as a top study destination, showcasing its world-class higher education and the opportunities it provides.
The British Council, the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities, continues to support peace and prosperity by strengthening connections and trust between people worldwide through education, culture, and language.
