ISLAMABAD (MNN); Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is set to arrive in Pakistan on Thursday for a two-day state visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Foreign Office said on Wednesday.
According to an official statement, President Mirziyoyev will lead a high-level delegation comprising senior cabinet members and leading business figures during his visit from February 5 to 6.
During his stay, the Uzbek president will call on President Asif Ali Zardari, hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and address the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Business Forum.
The Foreign Office said discussions would cover the full spectrum of bilateral relations, with a focus on exploring new opportunities to further strengthen cooperation in key areas such as trade, energy, defence, education, people-to-people contacts and regional connectivity.
It noted that this would be President Mirziyoyev’s second visit to Pakistan, underscoring the positive momentum in bilateral ties and the close relationship between the two countries.
The statement added that Pakistan-Uzbekistan relations are anchored in shared history, common faith and mutual aspirations for peace and prosperity across Central and South Asia.
President Mirziyoyev last visited Pakistan in 2022. In recent years, both countries have expanded cooperation in trade, investment and economic development, aiming to build stronger and mutually beneficial partnerships.
