ISLAMABAD: A high-level delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan, led by H.E. Alisher Tukhtaev, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, visited the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) in Islamabad, where they called on Rector Dr. Muhammad Zahid Latif.
The visit was held in the context of NUST’s recent conferment of an Honorary Doctorate Degree upon H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan — a move that underscored the growing academic and diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
During the meeting, the Uzbek delegation engaged in detailed discussions with NUST leadership on expanding collaboration in higher education, joint research initiatives, faculty and student exchanges, and knowledge-sharing programs. Both sides emphasized the importance of academic partnerships in fostering people-to-people connections and mutual understanding.Dr. Zahid Latif highlighted NUST’s commitment to international cooperation and expressed interest in strengthening institutional linkages with leading Uzbek universities and research bodies.
Ambassador Tukhtaev appreciated NUST’s role in promoting regional academic integration and reiterated Uzbekistan’s willingness to deepen educational and scientific cooperation with Pakistan.
