RAWALPINDI (MNN); The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) on Saturday successfully conducted the flight test of the indigenously developed Taimoor Weapon System, marking a major milestone in the country’s defence and aerial capabilities.
The Taimoor Air-Launched Cruise Missile can engage both land and sea targets with high precision at a range of 600 kilometres, carrying a conventional warhead. Its advanced navigation and guidance systems allow it to fly at very low altitudes, effectively evading hostile air and missile defence systems, according to a PAF press release.
The successful test demonstrated Pakistan’s progress in aerospace research and development. The missile’s low-altitude flight capability makes it harder for enemy defences to detect or intercept, giving the Pakistan Air Force enhanced operational flexibility. Its precision-strike capability further strengthens the conventional deterrence and overall defence posture of the country.
Senior military officers, along with scientists and engineers involved in the missile’s development, attended the test. Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of Air Staff, praised the team for their professionalism, dedication, and expertise. “This achievement is a testament to the hard work and professionalism of our people,” he said, emphasizing that such milestones reinforce Pakistan’s role as a reliable regional security partner.
The PAF press release highlighted that the successful test reflects the force’s commitment to operational readiness, technological superiority, and national security objectives.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the nation on the successful test, lauding the Pakistan Air Force for achieving this important milestone. He praised Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, and all scientists and engineers involved in the development.
PM Shehbaz Sharif said the successful flight test demonstrates the technical maturity, innovation, and self-reliance of Pakistan’s defence industry, and will further enhance the country’s defence and deterrence capabilities. He added that achievements like this reflect the PAF’s continuous efforts to safeguard national security and strengthen Pakistan’s sovereignty.
