ISLAMABAD: Ambassador of Thailand to Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Rongvudhi Virabutr, paid a courtesy call on Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, on Thursday to discuss ways to enhance cooperation on issues of mutual interest between the Parliaments of Pakistan and Thailand.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized strengthening parliamentary engagement through the Pakistan–Thailand Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG) and increased collaboration in multilateral forums. They also explored opportunities to expand tourism and trade ties, including cooperation related to the Gandhara civilization and progress toward concluding a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries.
Discussions further covered shared challenges such as climate change, alongside the importance of promoting women empowerment, particularly women’s participation in politics and gender mainstreaming across institutions.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq acknowledged the significant role played by the Parliamentary Friendship Group in deepening bilateral relations and underscored the need for closer coordination between the Parliaments of Pakistan and Thailand to advance shared goals and mutual interests.
