NEWS DESK (MNN); US President Donald Trump announced that the United States has initiated “major combat operations” in Iran, following Israeli missile strikes on the country.
According to Iranian media, citing the Iranian Red Crescent Society, at least 201 people have been killed and 747 injured across 24 provinces due to US and Israeli attacks. Rescue efforts are ongoing, with more than 220 Red Crescent teams deployed to affected areas.
Multiple explosions were reported in Tehran and other cities. A strike on a school in southern Iran also caused significant casualties, according to state media.
In retaliation, Iran launched strikes targeting Israel and US-linked assets across the Middle East, including in Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
In Bahrain’s capital Manama, residential buildings were hit during Iranian missile attacks, the interior ministry confirmed. Civil defence teams continue firefighting and rescue operations at impacted sites.
Airspace Closures, Public Restrictions
Amid the escalating hostilities, several countries across the region closed their airspace.
In Kuwait, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs cancelled Taraweeh prayers in all mosques until further notice due to security concerns.
Qatar reported multiple waves of explosions over its capital, Doha, and subsequently announced the suspension of all public events, gatherings and entertainment activities at hotels and tourist sites. Ramadan tents and iftar events traditionally hosted during the holy month have also been halted.
The situation remains volatile as regional and international stakeholders monitor developments closely.
