BARCELONA: Spain has announced plans to reopen its embassy in Iran following the recent truce involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, according to the country’s foreign minister.
José Manuel Albares said on Thursday that he has instructed Spain’s ambassador to return to Tehran and resume diplomatic operations after the embassy was closed in March due to the conflict.“I have given instructions to our ambassador in Tehran to return, to resume his post and reopen the Spanish embassy, and for us to contribute through all available means, including from Iran’s own capital, to efforts for peace,” he told reporters in Madrid.
The move signals a step toward normalization and diplomatic engagement as regional tensions ease following the ceasefire.
