DUBAI (MNN); Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has said his passion for football remains as strong as ever and that he is fully motivated to achieve his ambitious target of scoring 1,000 career goals, after being named Best Middle East Player at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai on Sunday.
Ronaldo, who received the honour for the second consecutive year, recently scored a brace for Saudi club Al-Nassr, taking his overall tally to 956 goals for club and country. With the 40-year-old indicating that he plans to continue playing for “one or two more years,” the historic milestone appears within reach.
Speaking after receiving the award, Ronaldo said continuing to play at the highest level is challenging but his motivation remains intact. He added that his love for the game is unchanged and that he enjoys playing football regardless of whether it is in the Middle East or Europe.
Ronaldo reiterated that his goals remain clear: to win trophies and to reach the 1,000-goal mark. He expressed confidence that he would achieve the milestone if he stays free from
