MOSCOW (MNN); Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to discuss ongoing peace talks between the United States and Iran in Islamabad, as well as the broader security situation in the Middle East, according to Russian media reports.
The discussion focused on the evolving regional landscape and the status of US–Iran negotiations, reflecting continued diplomatic coordination between Moscow and Tehran amid rising geopolitical tensions.
During the call, President Putin emphasized that Russia is committed to reducing tensions in the Middle East and supports a peaceful resolution of disputes. He added that Moscow is prepared to play a constructive role in facilitating de-escalation efforts.
President Pezeshkian welcomed Russia’s principled stance on easing regional tensions and expressed appreciation for Moscow’s support. He also conveyed special gratitude to President Putin for the humanitarian assistance provided by Russia to the Iranian people during the ongoing crisis.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.
President Pezeshkian also extended congratulations to President Putin and Orthodox Christians in Russia on the occasion of Easter.
