ISLAMABAD (MNN); Pakistan, along with seven other Muslim-majority countries, on Sunday strongly condemned Israel’s repeated violations of the ceasefire in Gaza, warning that such actions threaten efforts to restore stability as regional and international partners work on the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan.
The eight countries — Pakistan, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and the United Arab Emirates — had coordinated with the Trump administration last year on a framework aimed at ending Israel’s military campaign and invasion of Gaza.
Implementation of the plan began in October 2025 and resulted in a ceasefire in Gaza more than two years after the conflict erupted. However, Israel has repeatedly breached the truce by carrying out strikes in the Gaza Strip.
Work is currently under way on the second phase of the plan, which focuses on demilitarisation, the establishment of technocratic governance and reconstruction in Gaza.
In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of the eight countries strongly condemned Israel’s continued ceasefire violations, stating that these actions had led to the killing and injury of more than a thousand Palestinians.
The statement said such violations risk escalating tensions and undermining efforts to consolidate calm and restore stability at a time when regional and international actors are jointly advancing the second phase of President Trump’s peace plan and working to implement United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.
The foreign ministers noted that the repeated breaches pose a direct threat to the political process and obstruct efforts to create suitable conditions for transitioning Gaza to a more stable phase in terms of security and humanitarian relief. They stressed the importance of full commitment to ensuring the success of the second phase of the peace plan.
The statement called on all parties to fully uphold their responsibilities during this critical period, exercise maximum restraint, preserve and sustain the ceasefire, and refrain from any actions that could derail the ongoing process.
It further urged the creation of favourable conditions for early recovery and reconstruction, while advancing a just and lasting peace based on the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and statehood, in line with international law, relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
