MUSCAT: Oman has welcomed the recently announced ceasefire between the United States of America and Iran, describing it as a positive step toward de-escalation in the region.
The truce, agreed just hours before a deadline set by former US President Donald Trump, involves a two-week halt in hostilities between Washington and Tehran.
In an official statement, Oman’s foreign ministry stressed “the importance of intensifying efforts at this juncture to identify solutions capable of resolving the crisis at its roots and achieving a permanent cessation of the state of war.”
The Sultanate also underscored the need for sustained diplomatic engagement to ensure long-term stability and peace in the region.
