Jordan’s King Abdullah II arrived in Pakistan on Saturday for a two-day official visit, receiving a warm welcome from President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at Nur Khan Airbase.
During the visit, the Jordanian monarch is scheduled to hold important meetings with Pakistan’s top leadership aimed at strengthening political, economic, and cultural cooperation. Officials say the visit reflects the enduring and brotherly ties between the two nations.In addition to the president and prime minister, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari were also present to welcome King Abdullah II.
A formal welcoming ceremony was held at the Prime Minister House, where King Abdullah II was received with full protocol. President Zardari noted that Pakistan and Jordan share a deep-rooted relationship built on historic brotherhood, mutual trust, and shared values.Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to hold a one-on-one meeting with the Jordanian king, followed by delegation-level talks. According to the Prime Minister House, the visit will help further strengthen bilateral ties.
The visit comes shortly after Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, met King Abdullah II during his official tour of Jordan last month. The meeting highlighted the strong defence and diplomatic partnership between the two countries, with Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II also in attendance.
Discussions covered key areas of mutual interest, including defence cooperation, security collaboration, and regional developments. Field Marshal Munir conveyed greetings from Pakistan’s leadership and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to deepening ties with Jordan.
King Abdullah II praised the professionalism and contributions of Pakistan’s armed forces to regional peace and stability. Both sides reiterated their commitment to expanding cooperation in defence training, military coordination, and security policy exchange.
