BEIJING, (Xinhua) — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Tuesday that an increasing number of countries are reaffirming their commitment to the one-China principle, recognizing Taiwan as an inseparable part of China, and opposing any moves toward “Taiwan independence.”Wang made the remarks while addressing a symposium on the international situation and China’s foreign relations in 2025.
He said many countries have clearly voiced opposition to separatist activities aimed at “Taiwan independence” and expressed support for China’s reunification, describing it as an irreversible historical trend. He added that attempts to interfere with or obstruct this process are bound to fail.
Wang noted that this year marks the 80th anniversary of Taiwan’s restoration to China, calling complete national reunification a historical mission that must be fulfilled to safeguard China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in accordance with the law.
Reiterating that the Taiwan question is purely China’s internal affair and lies at the heart of its core interests, Wang said China will firmly oppose and take countermeasures against what it views as continued provocations by “Taiwan independence” forces, as well as large-scale arms sales by the United States to Taiwan.
