ISLAMABAD: H.E. Mr. Raimundas Karoblis, Ambassador of the European Union to Pakistan, called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House on Wednesday.
The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening cooperation with the European Union across areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, development, security, migration, and climate change. He underscored the critical role of the GSP Plus scheme in enhancing Pakistan–EU trade ties and reaffirmed the government’s resolve to work closely with the EU on mutually beneficial trade enhancement initiatives, particularly under the GSP Plus framework.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction over the successful 7th round of the Pakistan–EU Strategic Dialogue held in Brussels in November last year, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister & Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Advisor to the Prime Minister Dr. Syed Tauqir Shah, SAPM Tariq Fatemi, and Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch.
Welcoming Ambassador Karoblis, who assumed his responsibilities in Pakistan a few months ago, the Prime Minister conveyed his best wishes and reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire to deepen its partnership with the EU.
The EU Ambassador thanked the Prime Minister for the warm reception since his arrival and conveyed the good wishes of the EU leadership. He assured that he would continue working to further strengthen Pakistan–EU relations and highlighted the EU’s continued engagement with Pakistan on trade, both under GSP Plus and through trade promotion initiatives, including the first-ever EU–Pakistan Business Forum scheduled to be held in April this year.
