The Embassy of Portugal in Islamabad will participate in the European Film Festival (EUFF) 2025 by showcasing two notable Portuguese films, “A Sea of Trash” and “Snu,” in Islamabad and Karachi.
“A Sea of Trash” (2019), directed by Tânia Paiva, is a compelling short documentary that highlights the volunteer group “Sea’s Brigade” as they clean 45 kilometers of Portugal’s coastline. The film emphasizes community efforts toward combating marine pollution and will be screened in Islamabad on 7–8 November 2025.
“Snu” (2019), directed by Patrícia Sequeira, portrays the true and powerful love story of Snu Abecassis and Francisco Sá Carneiro, set against the backdrop of post-revolutionary Portugal. This historical romance and drama will be shown in Karachi on 16 November 2025.
The fourth edition of the European Film Festival, organized by the EU Delegation to Pakistan, celebrates the richness of European cinema through award-winning films, documentaries, and short features. Taking place from 7 to 23 November 2025, the festival will be hosted across Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), the Karachi Film School, and the Alhamra Arts Council.
