Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Monday reaffirmed China’s readiness to deepen cooperation with Russia across investment, energy, agriculture and other key sectors.
During talks with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Li said China welcomes more high-quality agricultural and food products from Russia. He said that their recent meeting in Hangzhou reviewed progress on bilateral cooperation and outlined plans to implement the key consensus reached by Presidents Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin.
Li Qiang said China aims to work closely with Russia under the strategic guidance of both leaders, strengthen communication, expand mutually beneficial projects, and deliver greater benefits to both nations. He also called on Russia to facilitate Chinese investment and operations in the country. He emphasized boosting people-to-people and cultural exchanges, including cooperation in culture, education and film, to bring “more humanistic warmth” to bilateral ties.
Highlighting the milestone results of September’s SCO Tianjin Summit, Li said China is ready to maintain close coordination with Russia to ensure member states uphold the “Shanghai Spirit” and accelerate the implementation of the leaders’ development blueprint.
He stressed advancing practical cooperation, improving SCO institutional development, enhancing its global role, and supporting Global South countries in promoting a fairer multipolar world and inclusive globalization.
Mishustin said Russia-China relations are at an unprecedented high, expressing Russia’s readiness to enhance dialogue, expand cooperation in trade, energy, agriculture and cultural exchanges, and develop new areas of growth.
He said Russia will continue improving the business environment for Chinese investors and thanked China for its strong leadership during its SCO presidency and the successful Tianjin Summit. Mishustin added that Russia looks forward to deepening coordination with China within the SCO framework and contributing to regional and global peace, development and prosperity.
