ISLAMABAD: Romania’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dan Stoenescu, on Tuesday engaged with members of the business community at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), holding a warm and substantive discussion on prospects for bilateral economic cooperation between Romania and Pakistan.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Stoenescu highlighted Romania’s economic trajectory and its growing appeal to global investors. He noted that Romania is among the largest and fastest-converging economies within the European Union, offering full access to the EU Single Market, competitive production costs, and strong long-term growth potential.
The ambassador emphasized Romania’s strategic advantages, including its population of nearly 19 million, its location at the crossroads of the European Union, the Balkans, the Black Sea, and the Middle East, and its steady economic convergence with Western Europe. He also pointed to the significant inflow of tens of billions of euros in EU recovery and cohesion funds, which are supporting major developments in infrastructure, digitalization, energy, and industrial sectors.
The discussion reflected strong interest from Pakistani businesses in expanding their footprint in Europe. Both sides acknowledged the considerable potential to deepen Romania–Pakistan trade and investment ties. Ambassador Stoenescu reaffirmed that Romania is open for business, eager to build partnerships, and committed to transforming dialogue into concrete economic projects that benefit both countries.
