DUBAI (MNN); President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday met with his United Arab Emirates counterpart during his four-day official visit to the Gulf country, with both leaders agreeing to further strengthen the longstanding and brotherly ties between Pakistan and the UAE.
According to a statement issued by the Presidentās Secretariat, President Zardari held the meeting while accompanied by a high-level Pakistani delegation. The two leaders reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and discussed avenues to expand cooperation in trade, investment, energy, infrastructure, technology and people-to-people contacts.
The statement said both sides highlighted the vast potential for enhancing economic and strategic partnership and noted the importance of sustained high-level exchanges. President Zardari also recalled the recent visit of the UAE president to Pakistan and expressed appreciation for the UAEās continued support in deepening bilateral relations.
The leaders exchanged views on key regional and international developments and reaffirmed their shared commitment to peace, stability and sustainable development. The visit was described as a reflection of the enduring friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries.
Earlier, President Zardari met UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi, where he praised the UAEās vision of tolerance, inclusivity and human fraternity. He lauded the Emirati leadership for fostering harmony among diverse communities, describing it as a global model of social cohesion.
Separately, AD Ports Group Managing Director and CEO Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi called on the president. President Zardari appreciated the groupās growing investments in Pakistanās maritime and logistics sector, particularly at Karachi Port, and welcomed the opening of its representative office in Islamabad.
