ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is participating in the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Informal Gathering of World Economic Leaders (IGWEL) session on “Restoring a Spirit of Dialogue in a Divided World” today in Davos, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The premier is on a three-day visit to the Swiss town (January 20–22), leading a high-level Pakistani delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, at the 56th Annual Session of the WEF.
During his visit, PM Shehbaz is expected to meet International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and hold discussions with various global leaders on the sidelines of the forum. He will also attend and address a breakfast event.
Arriving in Davos on Tuesday, the prime minister highlighted Pakistan’s economic potential on X, noting that the country’s ongoing reforms are creating opportunities across energy, agriculture, minerals, and emerging technologies. He emphasized that Pakistan is ready to transform this potential into long-term investment and mutually beneficial economic partnerships.
Additionally, PM Shehbaz will host and chair a Pakistan-specific High-level Business Roundtable with international corporate leaders. The Foreign Office stated that the prime minister will use the platform to present Pakistan’s perspective on global and regional peace, as well as the government’s achievements and vision in trade, investment, and economic development.
